App Builder is a powerful tool within the OnBase platform that allows administrators to reimagine user experiences to create tailored web interfaces. These interfaces optimize work tasks, provide quick access to frequently used features, and are labeled in the user’s language. The result? A fresh take on OnBase, designed within the familiar OnBase Studio framework.
App Building Essentials
Enables you to create customized front-end experiences by leveraging your existing systems and sources. Simply use the built-in Search, Unity Forms, Workflow, Folders, and Reporting Dashboards. Then, configure a tailored user interface (UI) in OnBase Studio using point-and-click tools. Finally, share the app’s URL with internal employees, allowing them to access and use it via their web browsers. Quick access tiles facilitate direct links to frequently used features, and the system is completely configurable without requiring any coding.
The Design-Build Process
Imagine you work at a large company that uses OnBase for document management, workflow automation, and other critical processes. Here’s how the App Builder could enhance your daily tasks.
1. Create the Application
Log in to Studio. Click on the App Builder ribbon at the top of the screen. Click on the App Builder tab in the Repositories panel. Click New Application on the App Builder ribbon. Type “Accounts Payable” as the Title and click Next. Add user group and click Next and click Finish.
2. Add a Screen
Add a Screen “Vendors”. Select Master Detail with Sources. Type “Vendor Information” as the title and click Next. Add a Custom Query source. Type “Invoice Search” as the label. Type “Searches across all Invoice” in the User Instructions field. Select AP — Invoice Search as the Custom Query and click Finish. Add a Document Retrieval source. Type “Non-PO Vendor Invoices” as the label. Select AP — Non PO Vendor Invoice as the Document Type. Click Next and then Finish and Save.
3. Add a Source
Add a Source “Invoice Approvals”. Expand the Invoice Approvals to access the Sources folder. Right click the Sources folder, select New, then Source and choose Workflow Queue. Type “Invoice Exceptions” as the Label. Select AP — Invoice Approval Processing as the Life Cycle. Select Invoice Exceptions as the Queue. Click Next and then Finish and Save.
4. Add Card and Action
Right click Accounts Payable from the repository, select New, and then Card. Type “Invoice Processing” as the Label. Click Next and Click Finish. Create Tiles “Invoice Exceptions” with source link Screen Vendors, Source Group Invoice Approvals, and Source Invoice Exceptions. Right click in the App Builder panel select New, and then Action. Type “New Vendor Invoice” as the Label and click Next. Click Upload a document. Select document type AP — Vendor Invoice. Click Next and click Finish. Click Save.
5. Test
Navigate to the Accounts Payable application in the Repositories panel and copy the Route. Reset the Application Server. Open Chrome and type “https://localhost/appnet/Apps/accounts-payable” in the address bar and hit Enter.
Similarly Unity Forms, Report and Dashboards can be built.
